Overview
Magnificently poised along one of Southern California’s most scenic and coveted coastlines, Terranea is set on the spectacular Palos Verdes peninsula, a stunning and irreplaceable site with unobstructed views overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island. Strategically located just 20 miles south of Los Angeles International Airport, no other coastal California resort combines such ease of access with the secluded ambiance of a private estate and truly breathtaking vistas.
The 582-room resort includes a 360-room hotel with 30 suites, 20 bungalows, 50 ocean-view casitas, and 32 villas. All rooms of the resort feature private balconies or patios, four-fixture bathrooms, flat-screen televisions, wireless high-speed Internet, multimedia desktop workstations, custom bathroom amenities, and in-room safes; 90 percent of hotel rooms offer views of the Pacific Ocean.
Terranea’s dining options combine a stunning ocean-front location with unique and contemporary offerings. The wide array of choices include an intimate freestanding restaurant with sweeping views, an all-day dining room overlooking the main pool and terrace, and a casual dining and bar option on the edge of the resort’s outermost point.
The oceanfront Spa Terranea is nestled in a secluded, unrivaled setting with sweeping views of the Pacific and Catalina Island. The luxurious spa embraces classic Mediterranean style architecture to create a distinctly California-style sanctuary of the senses. Featuring generous use of natural stone, wood, and water, it has a very contemporary and natural outdoor feel.

Wow, What a Nice Place
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
My husband and I flew to CA and, at the advice of a friend, stayed at the Terranea Resort September 12th thru the 18th. It was the best time we ever had. We have been to that part of CA many times since our daughter and her family live nearby. The room was top drawer, the service was just as good. We had breakfast at the buffet and it was just the best, everything you wanted was there. We stayed at the large pool and hot tubs, they were clean, never over crowded, plenty of loungers and of course, the towels, ice water that was at your fingertips was great. We even went down the big slide, what fun. We have been to other islands and places, the Terranea was the best. The view of the ocean and the grounds were just breath taking. You could never stay at a better place and have a better time anywhere. Thank you for a nice time. See you next year!

Excellent service. Joel, the reception clerk, was extremely helpful and we enjoyed our stay very much. We were celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary and felt it was the perfect hotel for it. Thank you. -Barry Kohn , from l.a., United States - 10/27/2009
Problem

We had a problem when we checked out of the hotel. Our room was paid for, but they had no record of that. -Anthony Bayne, from Palos Verdes, United States - 10/12/2009

Amazing!!!

We had an amazing stay at Terranea Resort & Spa. I have nothing negative to say. We are fortunate enough to be able to travel the world & stay at luxury hotels, & this rates at the top of our list!!! Thank you for the package deal...it was awesome! -Kim Thacker , from Coronado, United States - 10/8/2009
Great Facilities, Service Lacking
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
The facilities at Terranea are beautiful and second to none. However, the customer service left much to be desired. I heard that the ownership group had filed Chapter 11, and perhaps they're cutting costs by under-staffing the resort. Additionally, we were at the hotel for a wedding. The hotel had promised to upgrade bride & groom to a honeymoon suite for their wedding night, but upon check in we learned that no upgrades were available. This was highly disappointing to the bride, who had been promised an upgrade by the hotel manager. The resort was not very full, and I'm sure there were open suites. -Nicholas, from Long Beach, United States - 10/1/2009
Super Fun Hotel
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Great for kids - great for adults. Separate pool for adults if you like. Lots of restaurants. Extraordinary views of the ocean - lots of surprises - fun things to discover. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Quick to respond to requests. Relaxed atmosphere - even the other guests were smiling! -Virginia Giritlian, from Encino, United States - 9/24/2009
Can't Wait to Go Back!!
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Every where you looked was a gorgeous view of the ocean. We loved the ocean front walking trails along the hotel property. The gym was great, we did several Yoga & cycling classes, all overlooking the ocean! Each pool was beautiful, we enjoyed the adults only pool, again over looking the ocean. The cafe that we ate breakfast at was lovely outdoor dining. The rooms were awesome & the staff very friendly & accommodating. The only real negative were the prices @ the Spa, we opted to go off property for facials & massages because they were so pricey at the hotel. Loved this place, would highly reccommend it! -Jacquie, from Rowland Heights, United States - 9/18/2009
Lovely Hotel in Great Setting
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Lovely area...great for walking. Grounds are beautiful as is the room. Prices for food are very high even in the smallest restaurant. Views are great and hotel has a very laid back feeling. The cleaning crew did not do a great job of replacing towels etc. and we a long wait to get our food at the Catalina restaurant, but spa area very nice...all in all a great place close to home and easy to reach. -Harvey Shields, from Sherman Oaks, California, United States - 9/15/2009
A Staycation Without Airport Hassle!
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Staff, location, facilities and accommodations that worked for us.
Reversal of conventional check-in/check-out times made the stay even more convenient. A billing error on checkout was rectified without question. 9 holes on a wind swept links course was challenging for our foursome...great views too! Coffee shop close to entry with delicious sorbet and gelato choices, was inviting as well. We'll be back. -Geoffrey, from Long Beach, United States - 9/8/2009
Romance Package
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
I felt for the money paid for the room, that it would offer more space. Seemed a little small, including the balcony. The view was nice. The layout of the rooms was a little difficult to navigate. Had a romance package; the champagne and strawberries came almost 2 hours after requested and it was to be a pre-dinner thing. As such, we had to go to dinner and do the champagne later. -Brad, from Rancho Palos Verdes, United States - 8/29/2009
Wonderful, Upscale Resort
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
We celebrated our 10th anniversary. One night with the kids, and one night without. Perfect setting. Very kid friendly, with kid-free areas if you prefer quiet and calm. Beach area not swimable, but a great pirate cave for exploring. Tide pools, and winding trails down to the beach. Good food, and fantastic atmosphere. Breathtaking views. Pools kept at a balmy 85-90 degrees. Water slide needs more water as people moved very slowly and tend to get stuck midway. Kids don't seem to mind. Owls and hawks making the rounds to keep seagulls away. Great for kids. Had A/C problems which were rectified, and make sure you check your bill closely as we had errors on ours. Overall fantastic getaway. -Laurie Krinsky , from Manhattan Beach, United States - 8/27/2009
1 Yr Wedding Anniversary
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
My husband and I stayed here for our one year wedding anniversary. It is a very nice property, but they are still working out the bugs. The service was wonderful and they nearly lost our bags unfortunately. -Jennifer Jaffe , from Redondo Beach, United States - 8/21/2009
Unorganized
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
The hotel itself is pretty and the rooms are nice and cozy. The staff is really nice but confused. Our room was not ready when told it would be. Dinner reservations at Marcel were not available until 10pm. The pools are crowded with no chairs if you do not get there early. The breakfast in the morning was a 45 minute wait. I would expect this at a cheap hotel or an all-inclusive but for that price there are many more resorts that have better customer service and less chaotic. Frankly I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. -Jonathan/Deborah Destler , from los Angeles, United States - 8/20/2009
A Beautiful New Resort on a Cliff
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Service was very good with the exception of the workout facility, they still need to smooth out some things in that area. Otherwise the pools, resort grounds and hotel were lovely. Watching the dolphins play in the ocean from our room was an extra added bonus. We would go back! -Jenice, from Chicago, United States - 8/19/2009
