This is a great hotel. We were pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome from the staff. The rooms are modern, comfortable (the bed is the best bed I've slept in), quiet, and charming (fireplace, nice views). The hotel in conveniently located and has a nice, heated outdoor pool and a great lobby area where you can listen to live music at night. -Lan Ross , from RODEO, United States - 3/19/2010
Great Stay!!

We stayed in InterContinental The Clement over the weekend. Initially I was hesitant as other hotels were much cheaper. Since this was our anniversary trip I went ahead with this. Great location, one block from the aquarium. You can take a break in between and go back to aquarium. There are great restaurants around it. Bubba Gump was just near exit door. Starbucks is one block away. Couple of bakeries are there. Staff is friendly and property is clean and new. We were upgraded to fourth floor. There was no noise on the Cannery Row side. There are several viewing areas facing ocean. The hotel is perfect for families with kids. I will definitely stay again here even if I don't visit the aquarium. -super, from dublin, United States - 2/24/2010
Mirza's Review of The Clement
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Everything was smooth. Key cards were a problem, had to get them reprogrammed several times. The restaurant was not busy, and the food took a ridiculous amount of time to come out. When it did, it tasted like it was under a heat lamp for 30 minutes, barely warm and soggy. If I am paying 20 bucks for a hamburger, I want it to be hot and ready quickly. Braised short rib needs to be served hot, not with a sauce that resembles a mucus membrane from not being served while it was hot. -Mirza, from Bethesda, United States - 2/24/2010
It Was Swell...But

Loved the hotel itself - as well as the treatment we received from its staff. The only hiccup was that we'd decided on the hotel based on the fact it had a balcony. Due to Perfect Escapes' (laudable) upgrade we were given a room that contained only a Juliet balcony. Sipping wine and observing the sea on the balcony (something upon which our stay had been predicated) was impossible. The suite was beautiful, but no longer served our purpose. When we explained our predicament to the front desk, we were told that the type of room we had wished to stay in, was unavailable. Disappointing. -Kristin, from Saratoga, United States - 1/29/2010

Thanks to Perfect Escapes we had a room with an ocean view (free upgrade) and enjoyed the beauty of the Monterey Bay. We were only 2 blocks from the Aquarium. The hotel is new, beautiful room with all the modern amenities including California king size bed and Frette linens. Staff was very accommodating and our package included free valet parking. Great hotel at a great price thanks to Perfect Escapes!!!! -Dr.Robert Corwin , from new york, United States - 1/26/2010

We were so happy with our stay at the Clement. We were there 2 days after Christmas and they were very busy. However, the doormen and staff at the front desk were super nice. Check-in was very smooth and fast. Room was spacious and clean. Bathroom was huge w/ bathtub and separate shower area. We even got 2 complimentary water bottles. The gentleman who checked us in even gave us a mini tour of our bedroom, which was facing the shopping area, and a partial view of the water. The Clement was not able to upgrade us to a higher room type but that was OK since we loved our room. Valet parking was complimentary but I had to remind the staff about it when checking out. Overall, we will definitely go back to the Clement again! -Alvina, from DANVILLE, United States - 1/4/2010

From the moment we arrived to the moment we departed, the service and accommodations were excellent. The staff were consistently friendly, professional and helpful. The breakfast in the restaurant was excellent and of course the views top rate. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone. -Thomas Anderson , from Oakland, United States - 12/31/2009

Nice Get Away
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
We went to Monterey midweek for a small getaway with our 2 year old daughter. The location is great. It is right off the water, and by booking through Perfect Escapes we had a complimentary room upgrade with an ocean view. You can walk to the aquarium, Cannery Row shops & restaurants. This is our second stay at this hotel, we brought our bicycles and road down the bike path from right behind the hotel. At night there is a couple of fire pits outside the restaurant that overlook the water. We would go to hangout. The service was terrible the second night though (1 hour for hot chocolate and dessert - good thing we brought our own wine downstairs). Breakfast was also great and timely with an awesome ocean view. The coffee, not so good. We would definitely stay here again. More often if it didn't cost as much. Oh, there were conference rooms by the jellyfish stairs that looked nice if you are in for business, one of them has its own balcony. -Dawn Buckenberger , from Fresno, United States - 11/13/2009

Check-in was fast, efficient and very friendly. Room was very big with a great view of the ocean (courtesy of the Perfect Escapes complimentary upgrade!). Bar service also very attentive and friendly and romantic by the fire pit. Valet parking also very friendly, even gave us bottles of water for our long trip to Santa Barbara. Only let down was breakfast service - from sitting down to getting our food presented was 40 mins! Apart from that though, would highly recommend, esp with the complimentary valet parking. -Maria, from TEALBY, England - 10/21/2009

My husband and I were delighted with the lovely views and beautiful room at The Clement. We were especially pleased with the friendly and competent service we received, from the warm welcome of the front desk staff, to the helpful bellmen and valets, to the wonderful waiters at the restaurant. The stellar service at The Clement really reminded us of our last wonderful cruise. Thank you to Perfect Escapes for introducing us to this hidden gem! -Anthony Clancy , from san jose, United States - 9/7/2009

Nice, but Not for Families
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
We chose this spot as part of our 25th Wedding Anniversary celebration. However, we were surprised to learn about extra fees for paying with Visa debit; our 1 night stay was $209 and they told us at check-in that an additional $100 was on "hold" (they actually put over $545 on hold which caused our checking account to incur 2 separate non-sufficient fees because they put more on "hold" than what they said they would. In regards to the special package we purchased, we had to keep reminding them; they almost charged us for the valet parking at check in and check out. Our room was nice, except that there really is no refrigerator. Good thing they have ice. The refrigerator in the room is stocked with their drinks & if you touch anything they charge you $30. We liked the location. The room and fitness center were okay. The valets and gentlemen who helped with our bags were all very professional and personable. The encounter with the front desk at check-in was not as pleasant. -Walter Lewis , from NEWARK, United States - 8/24/2009

Hotel was nice if a little bland in decor. Service was good. Free internet. Restaurant was very good. Our room was nice and although in the back building with no view, it was spacious with tub and separate shower. Location is great. -Dawn, from Sausalito, United States - 8/13/2009

Great Location
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
The location was great and it was clean but that was pretty much all the place had going for it. The amenities promised with the package we booked were not given, I had to ask the check in clerk and then he actually needed help finding the info. We were told we would have a late check out of 4 upon checking in. But, on the day we left someone from the front desk was sent to our room to see if we were leaving that day. I was then told to call downstairs to straighten it out. Needless to say I was put on hold for over 5 min when I called downstairs. If I hadn't reminded the front desk we would have been charged for parking, internet usage and the late check out. Won't be staying there again. -Catina Gumataotao , from San Lorenzo, United States - 8/10/2009

Although the location next to the Aquarium on Monterey Bay is not ideal if you're not visiting that attraction, it is conveniently located for access to Pebble Beach and the rooms are very nice and much less expensive than the Pebble Beach properties. -Rita Moya , from Montecito, United States - 8/10/2009

Booked two rooms and received the Perfect Escapes upgrade to the main building next to the bay. I'm not sure I would consider the hotel worth the price if we had stayed in the annex across the street away from the water. That said, the rooms we stayed in were absolutely beautiful and worth returning to. -Lash Kurt , from South Pasadena, United States - 8/4/2009

My wife and I had a good time while staying at this property in Monterey. The outdoor pool and sauna was in an odd location and with Monterey having a cool foggy summer begs the question why it is not a indoor pool... -Robert Babe , from Frederick, United States - 8/1/2009

We loved the hotel! They couldn't do enough for us to make sure our visit was great! The location next to the Monterey Bay Aquarium was wonderful! Very nice hotel. Very central location in Monterey. Really helpful and friendly staff. Got excellent price on Perfect Escapes, including an upgrade to a deluxe room and complimentary parking. Very nice bar with outdoor heated area. Very small pool and Jacuzzi. Rooms were very nice, as were the bathrooms. Nice flat-screen TV and fireplace. Would definitely stay here again. -Gillian, from Tara, Ireland - 7/15/2009

Hotel was a very nice property. Rooms were very clean and large. Service was OK, with the exception of Michael the bellman who was outstanding. Valet service was also very good. Outstanding location. Spent 2 nights and wished we stayed longer, although not at the price we paid per night. -Kasper Maksian , from Shrewsbury, United States - 7/14/2009

Great hotel, friendly helpful staff, great position although we did not book a sea view we did have a glimpse of the sea. Room was spacious and very modern and bed very comfortable. I am glad we chose this hotel after seeing some of the others we had considered.
Would highly recommend. As we only stayed one night we did not try the restaurant. -Stephen, from Fyshwick, Australia - 7/14/2009

The location of this hotel is great. Didn't like the decor except the white linens in the room. Felt like I was inside a Hilton, instead of experiencing the Monterey Bay. Front desk was not that helpful upon check-in and check-out didn't ask about my stay. -Cindi Phillips , from Carmel, United States - 7/7/2009

This hotel was perfect! From the spotless room and beautiful hotel lounges, to the pleasant and helpful staff (complete with suggestion of amazing local seafood restaurant...The Monterey Fish House), this hotel provided wonderful value for money and a beautifully luxurious stay. My wife and I stayed for only the first night of our honeymoon, and we wished we had spent our entire honeymoon at Intercontinental The Clement. We loved the free room upgrade and valet parking provided by the Perfect Escapes package. We couldn't be more pleased or impressed with Intercontinental The Clement.
