Good water fun with Aquaventure. Enormous aquarium. Good restaurants and bars. Child friendly but you have to pay extra for the kids' club.
Bit pricey but luxurious. Rooms have iPod docking station and USB port - great. -Nicola Beer , from Dubai, United Arab Emirates - 10/22/2008
Very Disappointing Visit
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Arrived for check-in, told to check in later as no water in hotel so rooms could not be cleaned, checked in 3 hours later, no a/c in lobby, stood in queue in lobby for 1 hr, reach front of check- in to be told no rooms available. Left hotel - very disappointing experience on a very special day that was supposed to be a celebration. -Michelle Hobson , from Dubai, United Arab Emirates - 10/18/2008
Atlantis the Palm

We stayed at the hotel during the opening week which was during an Eid holiday.
The hotel was mobbed with tourists, guests and on lookers!
There appeared to be little overall organization in the lobby or the valet parking.
Having an opening at such a time was a recipe for disaster in terms of the volume of people visiting!
The hotel should have restricted the opening week to guests resident at the hotel only.
We finally checked in at 7pm after a main water pipe had burst which caused huge problems.
We were upgraded and breakfast was offered as compensation, after gentle persuasion.
The water park was great, although by mid afternoon again this was chaos, with outsiders coming in to visit.
The facilities and overall appearance are amazing, however the hotel does need to polish its customer service skills as they are not what is expected of a 5 star hotel.
Once this is done it will be a very enjoyable hotel to visit.

Atlantis Hotel, the Palm Jumeirah, Dubai

We were in the hotel during the soft opening and there were major glitches which will need to be addressed before this hotel is truly 5 star. Technical issues such as water and AC are beyond the control of the management but staff training and general organization leave a lot to be desired. I realize a soft openings are the time that all the issues will come to light and as such we are offered reduced hotel rates but nothing compensates for waiting more than an hour in a check-in queue at reception to be told there are no rooms even when you have a reservation. The two free night compensation given by the hotel was a generous gesture which has softened the blow and we look forward to revisiting when they have everything up and running. -Louise, from Dubai, United Arab Emirates - 10/7/2008
Highly Recommended Stay

Had an amazing time there, this hotel has a lot to offer. Though, since we went in the very first week of their launch there were a few hitches in their management but they made it up to us by giving us complimentary stay in future. Great place for water park lovers as well as others who like to see marine and water from a closer distance without getting wet! 422 million liter tank of 65000 marine species! -Sakshi Ashokan , from Dubai, United Arab Emirates - 10/7/2008

There were some teething troubles. It was the first week the hotel had been opened plus it was Eid (a huge Muslim holiday). There were long lines to check in etc. But having said that we had a great time. Rooms gorgeous, water park really fun etc. A water pipe burst and all the water was off for a day, but they gave us a voucher to stay for another 2 days for free, so we felt more than compensated. -Anne Marie Gervais , from RHE, United States - 10/7/2008
There Were Many Problems
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
The hotel check in was 1 hour. The hotel had no lifts or running water in the morning that we got up - so we couldn't shower or use the bathroom before heading to the water park.
At the water park a ride broke with me at the top I waited 10 minutes to be allowed off unfortunately my children had gone before me - it was the worst experience of my life and took me 30 minutes to find them with little help from the staff as the life guards have a duty and there were not enough other staff members walking around to assist. My sister stayed the day we left she experienced no water / lift problems and received two complementary nights stay without even asking!!! -Lesley Panzer , from Dubai, United Arab Emirates - 10/7/2008

Will Be Good When Finished

The hotel was clearly not ready for guests during our visit, none of the 1500+ had water for most of the first day of our stay. Having arrived at the hotel at 11.30am we were not able to check in and gain access to our room until 6.45 pm, the AC was not working in reception were we spent over four hours trying to check in. Having said that, the staff were extremely polite at all times and where possible every service was provided with great efficiency, the blame rests squarely with the Hotel Management and not the staff who were working under VERY difficult circumstances. All guests during our stay were ultimately compensated with offers of a complementary return stay however. -Charles, from Dubai, United Arab Emirates - 10/6/2008
Great Time Despite Problems
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Check-in took an hour due to volume of people and also because the hotel was without water that morning which meant they couldn't clean the rooms. We had a look at the aquarium which is great. We got to the room which was nice and slept 2 adults and 2 kids comfortably in 2 queen beds. Good views looking back to the mainland. We ate at Locatelli's which was mediocre and well overpriced for what it was. The next day room service for breakfast took 90 minutes although they said 20 and some of it was missing. We went to Aquaventure and had a great time. Later in the day though it was far too busy and crowded and queues were an hour long for a 30 second ride. Despite the problems, we do realize it was the opening week and the hotel has invited us back free of charge which is great customer service. Looking forward to going back when the teething problems are over. -Darren, from dubai , United Arab Emirates - 10/6/2008
What a Shambles.

A short list of what happened the 2 days and 1 night we were there:
1) Took 3 and a half hours to check in.
2)Room was disgusting, toilet not flushed in days.
3)Lost some of our luggage, not helpful in getting it back.
4)Service at the restaurants and room service was abysmal, honestly never experienced anything like it.
5)Took more than a hour to check out.
6)Valet lost our ticket stub, took a hour to retrieve my car, after having to make a scene in front of my children.
Am disappointed that I went to the hotel, have written reviews to a few newspapers to spread the word about the shambles that is the Atlantis-will never pay money to stay there again! -Natasha Bothma , from Dubai, United Arab Emirates - 10/6/2008
