Suite Was Sweet!
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
The suite was spacious, well laid out and decorated in a contemporary style. Very nice overall setup. Liked that the TV could face bed or living room. Liked having a desk and having it set apart from the room. Closet could have been a bit bigger. Also, the bed too - seemed smaller than a queen. -Annetta, from Webster, United States - 11/4/2009
Ask for Your Perks

We arrived at Affinia at 2:30 and the desk got us checked in and started to hand us our room keys and I asked what type of room did we have? She informed us that it was a King Guest room, I told her that we had a guaranteed room upgrade. She looks back into the system and tells us that there are no Suites ready but would have 1 available in an hour. So she checked our bags and we went to their C-House Bar and sat outside on the patio to have a couple drinks ($12 each). We look up and notice 10 people carrying picket signs and bullhorns headed to the front steps of the Affinia, Union workers that had been let go by Affinia. It got loud quick, was this the best hotel choice? An hour later we went to get checked in to be told it would be 30 more minutes. At 4:00 we were checked in to our Junior Suite(largest room at hotel), but had to ask for our free breakfast vouchers ($60 value for two days). The room was top notch and the rest of our trip was flawless, took advantage of 4pm checkout. - 9/21/2009
Chicago and the Affinia
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
This was the first vacation my husband and I had without children in over three years. We started our vacation by dropping one child off @ Michigan to attend school and we flew into Chicago for 4 days alone before returning home. When we arrived @ the hotel our room was not ready yet but the hotel staff was nice enough to direct us to a local church service nearby. When we returned we were delighted with the spacious room accommodations and with the daily breakfast coupons.
The staff was helpful in directing us to area dining and shopping locations and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Chicago. We will return to Chicago sometime in the future. My daughter and I stayed at the Affinia in February 2009 when she had an interview @ Northwestern. I enjoyed my stay then which is why I choose this hotel for our August vacation. The service was outstanding, everyone was helpful and we had a wonderful vacation in a luxury setting. -Belita Thornton , from Philadelphia, United States - 8/28/2009
Staff

The staff of this hotel were efficient, friendly and responsive. The hotel is well located for almost all activities. It was decorated in a pleasing manner and the restaurant was excellent. Our breakfasts and dinner were outstanding. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay on a return visit. -Robert Shehan , from Alexandria, United States - 8/10/2009
Classy Place
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Our stay was great except the staff bungled our checkout time(4:00). They had to issue us new cards, as they locked us out at 1:00. Also we had remote problems with the TV and the toilet. I was not impressed with the restaurant and the menu list. The wait staff was unimpressive also. A big negative. On the other hand, the hotel staff was great, and Chris Rodriguez and others were top notch and very personal, treating us like we were the only guests there, a big plus. -Daryle Johnson , from Farmington Hills, United States - 7/15/2009
I Thought I Was Upgraded!
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
When we went to the room, after a flawless and friendly check in, I figured I must have received an upgrade because the room was so spacious - a separate office area and a separate living room area - seemed to be more of a suite than a room; but I was told it was a standard room! The hotel was spotless, friendly and much more than I thought we would get for the reasonable price we got through Perfect Escapes. The roof top lounge was enjoyable for a drink and beautiful view of the wonderful city of Chicago. All staff was customer service trained and again, gave us more than we bargained for. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and always check out the Affinia chain when available since we had such an enjoyable stay. I am picky and can't even think of one negative comment to make! -Cheryl Deaven , from Lancaster, United States - 7/6/2009
Great Stay!

With the free upgrade to the Jr. suite, it was an excellent value. Hotel is very nice with helpful staff. Highly recommended. Location of the hotel is great also. -Matt Coy , from Ann Arbor, United States - 6/23/2009

Perfect location to walk to shopping, nightlife, Looking Glass and Drury Lane Theater. Bus only steps away, few blocks to L. Staff is very attentive and helpful. Wonderful pillows! Don't miss the view from the rooftop bar. -Cynthia Borosh , from Lake Forest, United States - 6/17/2009
Excellent Experience
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
I enjoyed my stay immensely at the Affinia Chicago. Staff was courteous and helpful. FYI, only one elevator goes to the upper floors so until the renovation of the other elevator is done, there is sometimes a significant wait for the elevator. Also, there is construction next door so sleeping in late is challenging. Construction starts promptly at 7 am on weekdays and 8 am on Saturday. The Affinia is close to the Northwestern Medical Center so sirens are occasionally heard. Overall though, the location to Michigan Avenue is ideal and Gino's East is right next door. The complimentary upgrade to a suite was wonderful and I would visit again despite the minor inconveniences.

Great Location, but a Bit of a Hassle
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
This was my second stay at the Affinia. My package from Perfect Escapes noted that breakfast for two, WiFi, room upgrade, early check in/late check out, [some perks on availability] and taxes were all inclusive of the rate online. The room was very spacious for Chicago and in excellent condition. The concierge was more than helpful and accommodating. However, in the morning, the front desk required me to print the confirmation email to prove that breakfast was included in the room rate. I had to do this for them AGAIN at checkout to prove that taxes were inclusive of the rate. I spent about 30 minutes at the desk between these two issues. They were both finally resolved. It is a nice property at a good price, located one building (not block) east of Michigan Avenue. Taking away the hassles, I would recommend the hotel. If you stay and the paperwork doesn't come together at the end though, stand your ground. Hope this helps!! -Tara, from Schererville, United States - 5/27/2009
Very Nice Hotel
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Very close to Michigan Ave for shopping. Use the public parking garage at the Hospital across from the hotel, which is $39 for 24hrs & the hotel charges $48 (but at least it's valet). Very friendly staff. Rooms were perfect. Ask for a room on the side near the hospital, because of night time construction to the building next door which kept my other family members awake. Also, for breakfast I recommend the Corner Bakery (only 2 or 3 blocks from hotel, just walk straight out of hotel), because good selection of food and reasonable prices. -Mike, from Jacksonville, United States - 5/19/2009

21st floor and slightly bothered by street noise. Overall

Mother-Daughter Weekend Getaway
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
My daughter and I took a mother, daughter weekend to see the Tina Turner concert and spend an extra night to sightsee and shop. Upon checking in I asked if we could possibly get a king size bed (the reservation was for one bed) as I have muscle problems and don't sleep well. They upgraded us to a room with two double beds on the 23rd floor. What a view! The bed was unbelievable! We fell in love with the hotel rooms...spotless, charming. The staff was wonderful. Everything is walking distance. We didn't try the restaurant as we knew it would be pricey, but did buy one drink each at the rooftop lounge. Gorgeous but really pricey. I would stay at this hotel again in a minute. I immediately wanted to redo my room at home to match. Thanks for a great weekend! -Mary Bushnell, from Pleasant Plains, United States - 1/30/2009
Great Getaway
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
The Affinia is perfectly located 1 block off the Magnificent Mile and all its shopping. The hotel itself is beautifully hip but not stuffy or pretentious. The room was clean and the bed was heavenly. Only complaint would be that the street noise came through the large windows (we were on the 6th floor) and took some getting used to at night. But other than that, a wonderful experience!
P.S. Be sure to check out the roof-top bar for great views and cocktails. -Jason, from Powell, United States - 10/26/2008
Great Location, Wonderful Staff!!

If you are looking for somewhere to stay in downtown Chicago then this is it!! It's right next door to Gino's East, 1/4 of a block away from Neiman Marcus, 2 blocks from water tower and everything in that area. My only gripe is that the cost of parking was a little high: $45.00 a night. But other than that it was great. -Natasha Wilson , from keokuk, United States - 9/4/2008
Good Service
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
The city of Chicago was tearing out onto the sidewalk on street level at 6am on the morning we were there. The walls and floor were shaking, and the noise was outrageous. The management at the Affinia took care of all of our hotel charges and rates, we did not pay a thing. It was not their fault, but they covered the whole thing. I could not ask for better service for our inconvenience.
The hotel itself has wonderfully furnished guest rooms. The rooms are large and contemporary. Great pillow menu, posh toiletries.
I would try another stay here. -Tara, from Schererville, United States - 8/26/2008

Fabulous Staff

I can't stress enough how wonderful the staff is at this hotel. Everyone from the front desk, door men, bell hops, concierge, and house keeping were professional, friendly, and made us feel welcome, like a dear friend. Away from home, in a "big city" it was nice to see these friendly faces whenever we came returned to the hotel. -Joann, from Rockford, IL USA, United States - 7/29/2008
Good, but Could Be Better
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Overall, hotel is in excellent location, immediately east of Neiman Marcus on Michigan Ave. Very pleasant staff, rooms, etc. However, upon arrival, I was told that there is no indication in reservation that i am entitled to free breakfast--which was a package of my reservation. Since my visit was during the weekend, my travel agent was unavailable. --thus no breakfast there. Also I was visiting with a dog, and hotel website boasts amenities for pets--dishes, towels, waste bags. None of that was present or even offered. When I have requested a bag, staff searched in vain until one brought out a plastic laundry bag. Has potential to be a good hotel, but service is average. -Yulia, from Milwaukee, United States - 6/26/2008
Fabulous in Every Way

Not one thing to dislike about the hotel. The rooms are generous in size, room layout is very hip, pillow menu is a great touch and views of the city are outstanding. C House is a must - menu and staff are over the top. You have to stay here! -Karen Ruck, from Fountain Valley, United States - 6/26/2008
