Overview
Nestled peacefully in an idyllic setting overlooking Kenmare Bay in South West Ireland the 5 star Park Hotel Kenmare, Co. Kerry is at one with nature. Kenmare is a charming town nestling at the foot of the Cork and Kerry mountains in the south west of Ireland. The town founded in 1670 by Sir William Petty, is a planned town and preserves many of its original features.
Dating from 1897 each of the 46 Bedrooms enjoy a spacious sitting area furnished with antiques and objects d'art while most have a full water view or private veranda. Our Superior Rooms are located in the original part of the house and are quaint in décor and style. Like all rooms in the hotel each is individually decorated with a selection of antique furnishings and oil paintings.
The Dining Room with its silver ladened sideboards, acclaimed menu and service is classical in every sense of the word.

The spa is brilliant, but rather spartan. the hotel is an old people's home in style. breakfast is menu only, even for a fruit salad, and don't forget the ancient plumbing. I ran the shower for 30 minutes before I got warm (not hot) water. I couldn't fault the room service, but overall the service is uninviting and uninspiring. There has to be a market for 5 star luxury that is not contemporary in style, but this is not it.

From Shannon airport:
Exit through Shannon Village. Turn right on N18 for Limerick. At first roundabout on entering Limerick take last exit on roundabout for Cork, Tralee N20. Follow N20 signs through the next 5 roundabouts. Continue on N20 until junction with N21 Tralee, Killarney. Follow N21 through Adare.Rathkeale, Newcastle west, Abbeyfeale, Castleislan. Continue through Castleland and follow sign for N23 Killarney. Turn left at Farranfore for Killarney of N22 continue for 10 miles passing through Glenflesk turning right on R569 for Kenmare passing through village of Kilgarvan to Kenmare.Upon entering Kenmare continue past the golf club. The entrance to the hotel is on left at top of the town. From Dublin on the N7 towards Naas, Kildare and Portlaoise. In Portlaoise take the N8 onto Cashel. Through Cashel continue on to N8 bypassing Cahir onto Mitchelstown. Continue through Mitchelstown and at the top of the town turn right for Mallow. Travel on through Mallow up the Main Street. Take the N72 towards Killarney. Continue to Rathmorw, turn left at Barrduff on the R570. Continue onto Glenflesk, turn left and travel for 3 miles on the N23 turn right on to the R569 for Kenmare. Continue for 17 miles through Kilgarvan on to Kenmare. Upon entering Kenmare continue past the golf club. The entrance to the hotel is on the left at the top of the town. From Cork airport -turn left to Cork City from airport. At roundabout follow signs for Macroom, Killarney on the N22. Travel for 8 miles leaving the village of Ballvourney. Turn left on the R569 for Kenmare upon entering Kenmare, continue past the golf club, the entrance to the hotel is on the left at the top of the town.

Train from Dublin to Killarney 3.5 hours cost 45 EUROS then taxi to hotel 40 EUROS.
