Overview
Shutters on the Beach sits perfectly on the sand of Santa Monica Bay near the historic Santa Monica Pier and in the midst of one of Southern California's most eclectic and desirable seaside resort communities. The hotel is mere minutes from many fashionable shopping districts, fine restaurants and art galleries, and only eight miles from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
Shutters on the Beach recalls both the traditional architecture of America's historic beach resorts and inviting cottages of the Southern California coast during the 1920s and 1930s. Three separate buildings comprise the structure, all visually linked by elaborately detailed
slate-grey shingled siding, flower-covered trellises, balconies and cabana-striped awnings. The front of the hotel opens onto the Santa Monica beach promenade. The tallest buildings embrace the sun-drenched pool deck. Public spaces are warm and inviting with a mixture of custom furnishings and white painted wood paneled walls, accented by dark wood floors and details. The lobby boasts two large fireplaces, intimate conversation areas and a large balcony overlooking the ocean.

Even with unseasonably cold and dreary weather, our weekend getaway at Shutters was great. Highly recommend breakfast at Coast -- don't miss the corned beef hash.

This charming hotel offers a romantic setting for a great weekend getaway. The ocean view pool is beautiful and the ambiance is relaxing. Highly recommended.
