Overview
The Imperial is an ode to India's independence from
the British Raj and was built
as a jewel in the crown of the outgoing rulers. The Imperial boasts a rich historical past with an awe-inspiring heritage and a truly international appeal.
The Imperial was built and
run by S.B.S. Ranjit Singh,
son of R.B.S. Narain Singh
who was honoured by the British Government for his commendable work on 1911's Coronation Durbar where New Delhi was declared the new Capital of India.
It was Lady Willingdon who gave the name ‘The Imperial' to the Hotel and conferred the lion insignia upon the Hotel.

Excellent Hotel

We stayed for 2 nights and 3 nights at the beginning and end of our Golden
Triangle trip.
When we arrived we were greatly impressed at how beautiful the hotel was. It was an oasis of calm in a very hectic and hot city.
It is a fine Art Deco building and has a lovely colonial feel inside with magnificent paintings and floral displays.
The room was spacious and very well appointed and quiet. It has all the amenities you could ever need.
The hotel makes you feel very special as if you are the most important guest.
It is nice to get the water and cold towels and fruit kebabs by the pool.
On our second visit we were welcomed back as if we were regular guests and
upgraded to a suite.
All in all this is probably the best hotel we have ever stayed in and would
recommend to anyone.

The Imperial is, simply, the only option if you are seeking impeccable service combined with spotlessly clean, excellent accommodation and facilities. This hotel excels in every area and it is worth spending that little bit extra to stay here in order to guarantee a stress-free, thoroughly civilized time.
The only area that did not match up to billing was the spa - there isn't one to speak of, at least in the meaning of the word that I understand. For a hotel such as this to be devoid of steam room, sauna and large hot tub area, where weary guests can relax and rest, is a major shortcoming. I understand from staff that plans are in hand to rectify this, although the timescale is subject to confirmation. The outdoor pool was lovely, however, especially in the morning before breakfast.
Concierge services were excellent; the staff directed me to an excellent tailor who was able to prepare a suit for me in under 24 hours.
In summary, I would recommend the Imperial to all.

Really enjoyed this calm place with very clean rooms and great service. The pool area needs some kind of refurbishment. The location is great as it is in walking distance to CP.
